Kicking Off Our Detailed Plan!

Welcome back! After much preplanning and a bunch of ideas roaming around in our heads, we finally have some more specific information regarding our film introduction plot. We’ve decided that our story will follow this plot line of a struggling/ conflicted 18 yr old soccer player:

  • our player(main character) starts playing soccer but it’s just them practicing alone and they score a goal

  • their friend is watching and after says something all excited and proud like, “he shoots, he scores!!”

  • looks around and sees other kids and parents happy and proud of kids

  • feels upset but the friend consoles them

  • our main character goes home to parents who are just watching tv or something leisurely that to show they could have easily been there to support their kid but chose not to

  • some dialogue will take place here (a kind of argument between the main character and their parents about how soccer isn’t important/ he should focus more on school to get into college/ it’s senior year, can’t mess around)

  • main character storms out and goes in their dark room to symbolize sense of loneliness

  • either checks laptop to see application sent to top soccer school or email

  • House gets a call from the coach and the mom declines the call and lies about it to sabotage her son

We are hoping to include all of this in our introduction to help show the conflict of character v. character and character v. self, in addition to establishing our main character, who we’ve decided to name Gabriel (Gabe for short) and even their best friend character. Obviously, this is a fairly ambitious plot to communicate in 2 minutes, but we are definitely going to continue to plan out our time and the rest of the aspects of creating this opening to ensure everything not only runs smoothly but looks good in the end too. My group can't wait to plan more and keep you updated. I hope you’re as excited as I am. Talk to you soon!
