Last Pre-plan Stop!

Welcome back! In my group’s planning process, today we focused on a very underrated, yet vital part of the planning process: determining our film’s target audience. A large part of our target audience largely comes from the name of the genre itself, sports fans. In addition, the target age group would be young adults, and since sports are generally geared more towards males, this would be more of a secondary target audience. Even more so, since our main character will more than likely be male, this further encourages/ pushes this secondary audience.

Another important thing we are starting to discuss, so we’ll be able to make a more detailed storyboard soon, is the camera shots and filming techniques we plan on using to create our film opening. In order to develop context, of the scenario and plot of the remaining film, we are definitely going to use numerous close ups of our main character and possibly of the key elements of the sport itself, such as the ball being kicked in soccer, in order to develop as much detail as possible. I believe we want to rely more so on our camera techniques, editing, and other aspects rather than dialogue to build up context. Another common editing technique we might try to utilize is an action match because it’s commonly used to help further portray action, which will be largely present as the opening will definitely feature some sort of sports, whether it be a practice or game. Other techniques we decide to use to further the success of our film opening will probably come to us as we continue the journey of developing this project. Be sure to stay tuned for more detailed planning soon to come!
