Time for Storyboarding!

Hey guys, I’m back for another quick project update. We have officially started our storyboard! This is a big deal because it is officially cementing all of our progress. It’s also the first time we’ve been able to visualize our piece actually coming together. This storyboard will be vital during the filming/ shooting process so we know what angles and shots to use, how to break up the filming, and what should be in the shot. This will also allow everyone in my group to be on the same page and settle any creative differences we have towards filming beforehand so filming can run smoothly. We haven’t finished storyboarding our piece yet, however we did finish the very beginning of the scene within the first setting of the soccer field.

In addition, we discussed the lighting we plan on using in our film opening. We realized that filming may prove to be difficult as we will most likely be filming this opening on a phone, rather than a high quality camera, but having good lighting will definitely help this small issue. Lighting really helps set the mood and allows the viewer to subconsciously feel a certain way. This being said, during the happiest moment of the opening, Gabriel playing soccer, there will be brighter colors and a lot of sunlight to illuminate the film. However, as the film progresses we plan on relying less on natural light and more on artificial light as the rest takes place inside a house. This lighting will be slightly darker than the previous setting because the darker room creates/ sets the stage for more of a dramatic scene, which takes place here between the parents and Gabriel. Then, the lighting of the last part of this scene in the opening will be fairly dark to help further symbolize the idea that Gabriel feels alone and upset. We will also probably try to utilize the color blue here as it typically represents sad tones. See you for the next step in our plan!
